Maximilian I, 1459–1519, Holy Roman Emperor and
German King.
Maximilian loved both arms and armor and actually designed some armor that has been named after him. The Maximilian Sword and Dagger are examplpes of his design work. He also never held back from a good fight. In 1479, King Louis invaded the Netherlands where he was met by Emperor Maximilian. In a short battle the French Calvary defeated the Imperial Horse, but in the end the field was held by the Flemish infrantry, with the Emperor fighting on foot in their midst. This beautiful sword and dagger with central fullers is not only great to look at but great to hold. |
