The Stirling
Baskethilt Backsword has its origins in the Scottish
town of Stirling, famous for the Allen family of swordmakers.
This Backsword has a distinctive barred basket, with designs showing
its Celtic ancestry. This backsword has a strong single edged
blade, a flat back and a double edged tip. It is often associated
with the baskethilt claymore, which has a double edged blade,
the entire length of the blade. The original blade is a late 17th
century Solingen pattern. A replica from a museum piece, the sword
will please the collector and re-enactor.
