There has
never been a sword so strongly identified with a people as the
Basket Hilted Claymore Backsword of the Scots. From before the
1600's to today, the basket hilted sword has become a symbol of
Scottish Heritage. The pattern and piercings of this basket are
typical of the swords found at the Culloden Battlefield near Inverness,
Scotland. The basket of the features the traditional heart and
circle piercing employed by several makers. The blade of the original
is late 17th century Solingen pattern.
